Laser tattoo removal: How does it work?

Lasers are unique in that they produce considerable energy, generating a "shock wave". The expansion of this shock wave pulverizes the tattoo pigments, giving rise to much smaller pigment particles that are eliminated by the body's own cells. The tattoo then fades, session after session, until the desired result is achieved.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

Patients describe a "rubber band" sensation in the treated area. An anaesthetic cream may be prescribed if necessary.

I have black or mixed-race skin. Can I have laser tattoo removal?

Yes, dark and black skin can be detatched with a few precautions. Come in for a consultation!

Can I go out in the sun after a tattoo removal?

To allow your skin to heal as well as possible, it's best to avoid exposing the treated area(s) to the sun.
If this is not possible, be sure to apply SPF 50+ sunscreen and physical protection to the area(s).
